Version 2.1
A selected group of DMs is already testing this. It's the next App Store version, and it's still being worked on.
MapMe has been shipping about every 4 days.
Dynamic lighting
Place lights on the map to carve rooms out of darkness. Closed doors keep a corridor dark, and shadows follow the painted walls.
Autosave
MapMe now saves your work continuously, so you never have to worry about losing a map.
Faster maps and packs
Your library appears right away, large packs open in seconds instead of minutes, and painting, zooming, and panning hitch less on older iPads.
Rounded corners on rectangles
Drag the new corner handles on a rectangle shape to round its corners.
New
-
Store map packs in named folders
Imported maps and packs now save under readable folders using their map name instead of a random ID. Old UUID folders update next time you open your library.
-
Reverse wall path direction from the toolbar
You can now reverse the direction of a wall's path straight from the toolbar. This helps when you want more control over wall flow for doors or lighting.
-
Persist sidebar terrain textures per map
The terrain textures you see in the sidebar now remember their order and presence per map. When you open a map, its sidebar looks just like you left it.
-
Grid style and toolbar labels saved in settings
Grid appearance and toolbar button labels now stick as app settings across sessions and devices. You only need to set them once.
Improved
-
More stable map and pack loading progress
Pack loading in the sidebar now shows a steady count and a fixed title. Switching between large packs won't jump the layout or lose track of what's loaded.
-
Main menu blur and release notes sheet updates
Opening a sheet from the main menu now blurs the menu behind it. The release notes sheet also fits its content better and uses a grid for layout.
Fixed
-
Custom color swatch saves when the picker closes
Custom terrain colors now commit to the palette when you finish picking a color, even if you close the picker without hitting a checkmark. No more lost color choices.
-
Keep terrain and archive shards across app restarts
Autosave and map data now reliably survive force-quitting or running low on memory. Terrain and layers come back as you last left them.
-
Exported WebP images keep quality and alpha
Maps exported as WebP now use correct image quality and keep transparency, so your maps look right when shared outside MapMe.
-
Two-finger zoom and pan sync correctly
Pinching or panning with two fingers now stays smooth and doesn't jumble the map when you switch fingers mid-gesture.
-
Mac: fullscreen sessions don't restore to wrong window size
On Mac, reopening the app in fullscreen no longer resizes the window to the old shape, keeping your workspace how you left it.
-
Clear and restore selections between object and prefab layers
Prefab group selections now clear when you leave the object layer, and restore when you come back. No more stuck highlights.
